I find the whole thing fascinating – that people are merging Victoriana with futuristic inventions and it all seems a bit gothic and romantic.
The exhibition takes up the main temporary space on the ground floor of the Industrial Museum and includes a 3D film, costumes, museum collection items and pieces produced by Steampunk enthusiasts. Look out for the amazing wings and the mummfied vampire baby (weird) as well as some genuine artefacts such as an old Fireman’s helmet and a candle wick trimmer – which look like they were made for Steampunk!
There is also lots of activities for the children – including a find the steampunk bug trail!
The museum is fantastic anyway for a visit – but Steampunk is a reason to go sooner rather than later.
Steampunk is on at Bradford Industrial Museum until Monday 7 May 2012.
